Wilcoxson Elementary School in Stratford will be closed Wednesday, March 11 through Friday, March 13, for extensive cleaning of the building, Stratford Superintendent of School Janet Robinson.
Robinson said only Wilcoxson will be closed.
"No other schools are impacted, at this point in time," she said. "In the event other measures become necessary, we will communicate appropriately at that time."
The student has been tested and health department officials are awaiting the results.
In the meanwhile, Stratford Public Schools continues to work closely with the Town of Stratford Health Department at staying up to date on information surrounding COVID-19.
If the student is positive and the school is instructed to close, the school district has a contingency plan that includes distance learning (computer classes) in place for closing the school for two weeks.
If tests come back positive, the student would be the state's third resident to have contracted the virus, and the first child.
A Wilton man, who is in a medically induced coma at Danbury Hospital, and a Bethlehem woman, have tested positive to date.
